My experience with Veterans United was awesome! Everything went smoothly with minimal wickets to get through.

I really liked Annie a lot. She was a great coordinator. The reason I'm saying I would not recommend Veterans United is because I don't think that nationwide policies work well in rural areas. I feel that if we had sat down and talked with a local lender, we would have been more aware of a few things that hung us up. In a rural area, people need to have a local banker who has connections. I regret not going with our original planned lender. This purchase was much more difficult than any in the past. The other thing that bothered me was as a co-borrower, I am signing my name to a huge financial liability as well. Everything was always directed at the veteran, which I appreciate. However as a co-borrower, one can feel a little marginalized.
Response from Veterans United
Hi Samuel,
Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts. I’m glad to hear you had a positive experience working with Annie—she really is great at what she does. That said, I’m sorry to hear you felt that parts of the process didn’t meet your expectations.
I can understand how working with a lender who’s more connected to your local area might seem like it could’ve been helpful, especially in a rural market. We do our best to provide personalized support no matter where our borrowers are, but I can see how you might feel that a local approach would have been more tailored.
I also want to acknowledge your feelings as a co-borrower. You’re absolutely right—signing onto such a major financial commitment is no small thing, and I’m sorry if you ever felt marginalized during the process. While we do have a strong focus on serving veterans, your role as a co-borrower is incredibly important, and I’ll be sure to pass this feedback along to our team.
If you’d like to chat more about your experience or share any additional details, my team would love to hear from you. You can reach us directly at 1-800-212-5200 or ClientAdvocate@vu.com. We’re in the office from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. CST Monday through Friday, but feel free to reach out anytime.

Our Loan Officer, Kevin Webster, Home Buying Concierge, Nicky Blevins, plus Gray Grimm and the VU team went beyond our expectations. They provided quick and courteous service from start to finish. We were thankful and blessed with an outstanding team.

Another pleasant experience working with Veteran's United. Kayla is always on top of everything, and just a phone call or text away to answer any of our questions or concerns. She's quite the asset to your company! Thanks for everything!

Could not be happier with the process. From offer to close in 30days. Everyone was amazing getting this done. Thank you all very much!

Our Veterans United team made our dreams a reality. From Kayla dealing with my frequent/anxious emails to a phone call with Mariah that felt more like a friends call than a mortgage experience..thank you so so much! Thank you for your appreciation to the veterans community, and for all the guidance in the home buying process.I really appreciated the communications I received from my team - I always knew where I was in the process and it didn't feel as daunting. I would recommend Kayla and Mariah to anyone, I cannot imagine a better team behind you. They event sent my pets treats and toys! It's a small gesture that makes me feel like more than a 'customer'.The organization of the Veterans United website is extremely helpful and makes uploading documents super easy. Just another step of the process that can be stressful, and doesn't have to be!!Thanks for everything y'all!!

Great VU team with personalized support and courtesy. Would highly recommend!

I understand I’m a unique customer due to my disability. The Federal law requiring me to provide proof of disability income is excessive, a W-2 form should be sufficient for a mortgage company to process a loan. And likewise, the Federal government should make it easier for mortgage companies to confirm disability income.

I was gun shy, considering the first experience in going VA in 2015, but I'm glad we stuck it out and closed on our dream home. Such a weight off my shoulders.
Thanks to Evan and his team!👍🤗

Our experience with Veterans United was truly exceptional and easy. Thanks
