Community "Thank-A-Thon" To be hosted by Veterans United Employees

May 23, 2014

Beginning Friday, May 23, Veterans United Foundation will host a multiple day "Thank-A-Thon" on behalf of Heart of Missouri United Way (HMUW).

Employees of Veterans United will be calling, emailing and writing thank-you notes to people who made pledges during the HMUW 2013 fall campaign.

For several years, employees and leadership of Veterans United have supported HMUW's Community Impact work by pledging $400,000 annually. Veterans United's pledge to HMUW is the largest of any private corporation supporting United Way in Mid-Missouri. In 2013, Veterans United leveraged its gift by making $100,000 of it available as a $200 match for United Way donors who pledged at the Leadership Circle level of $1,000 or more.

"We could not be more proud of our partnership with Veterans United Foundation," said Tim Rich, executive director of Heart of Missouri United Way. "We literally have thousands of donors who pledge each year and being able to thank them personally is nearly impossible. We are truly grateful to the Foundation and Veterans United employees for being willing to thank their fellow donors on our behalf. Not only do they give financially but, they are always ready and willing to pitch in and lend a hand. They truly LIVE UNITED!"

Veterans United Foundation is supported entirely by the employees of Veterans United Home Loans. The Foundation is committed to enhancing the lives of veterans and military families nationwide by supporting nonprofit organizations that strengthen local communities and honor the sacrifices of those who served.

"Our partnership with Heart of Missouri United Way is so extremely important to the foundation and the Veterans United employees," said Megan Sievers, director of Veteran United Foundation. "Their hard work and dedication to our community is unmatched and it's the donors that allow HMUW to continue its great work. Being able to say thank you to others in the community who are continually enhancing lives is an honor."

Veterans United Home Loans and its employees have donated and pledged $9.5 million to the Foundation since its founding in November 2011. In recognition of this commitment, Veterans United Home Loans was named 2012 Philanthropist of the Year by the Heart of Missouri United Way.
